Proposed Company Name
Before a company can be registered anywhere in Qatar, its trade name has to be checked and reserved with the relevant authority. This is one of the earliest steps in the process, since your commercial registration, license and most other documents will reference the approved name.
When proposing a name, it generally should not:
- Already be registered by another business in the commercial record
- Conflict with an existing registered trademark
- Violate public morals or be considered misleading
- Imply a government affiliation it does not have
MOCI, for example, allows a short reservation period free of charge, with a longer six-month reservation available for a fee — useful if you need more time to complete the rest of your setup before finalizing registration.
It is worth having two or three name options ready, since your first choice may already be taken or may need minor adjustment to meet naming rules.
