Corporate Shareholder Documents

When a shareholder in a new Qatar company is itself another company — rather than an individual — additional documents are needed to verify that parent company’s own legal standing before it can hold shares in Qatar.

Common requirements for a corporate shareholder include:

  • The parent company’s commercial registration or certificate of incorporation
  • Its Articles of Association or equivalent constitutional document
  • A board or shareholder resolution authorizing the investment in the Qatar company
  • Identification of the authorized signatory acting for the parent company
  • Ultimate Beneficial Owner information tracing ownership back to the real individuals involved

Documents issued outside Qatar generally need to be legalized (and often translated into Arabic) through the appropriate consular or attestation process before submission.

Corporate shareholding structures can be useful for holding companies, joint ventures and group structures, but they typically require more documentation and a longer preparation time than a simple individual shareholder.
