What Is a Family Residence Visa in Qatar?
A Family Residence Visa in Qatar allows expatriate residents to sponsor their immediate family members—spouses and children—for long-term residency in the country. Each family member, including infants, must have their own individual residence permit.
Eligibility Criteria
Salary Requirements:
Government & Semi-Government Employees: QR 10,000 salary with an employment contract, OR employer-provided family housing.
Private Sector Employees: QR 10,000 salary, OR QR 6,000 salary + employer-provided family housing.
Profession:
The sponsor’s job title must be technical or specialized (non-labor roles) and accredited in the employment contract.
Schooling for Children:
Children aged 6-18 years must be enrolled in school, either inside or outside Qatar.
Health Insurance:
Mandatory for all family members from the date of entry and throughout their stay.
Required Documents
Attested marriage certificate (for spouses).
Attested birth certificates (for children).
Passport copies of all family members.
Sponsor’s Qatar ID and passport copy.
Tenancy contract attested by the Ministry of Municipality.
Employer’s letter confirming salary and job title.
Employer-provided family housing certificate (if applicable).
Step-by-Step Application Process
1. Verify Eligibility:
Ensure your salary, profession, and contract details meet the criteria. Verify your employer’s Wage Protection System (WPS) compliance.
2. Prepare Documents:
Collect and attest the required documents. Ensure your tenancy contract is valid and attested.
3. Apply via Metrash:
Log in to the Metrash2 app. Fill in the application form and upload the required documents.
4. Pay Fees:
Submit the application and pay the visa processing fee via the Metrash app or at the MOI Service Center.
5. Await Approval:
Application approvals might face delays during high-demand periods. If approved, print the Residence Permit for each family member.
